Background: Two Rivals Join Forces to Create a Low-Carbon Design
Adidas and Allbirds are rivals in the sneaker market, but at the same time they have joined hands to create a new collection, the first piece of which is the Futurecraft.Footprint low carbon running shoe. This time, the two companies share private technology and materials, working together to invent a low-carbon design process and a high-performance, zero-carbon running shoe.

Innovation: Breakthroughs in Futurecraft.Footprint Prototyping
The result of the program is the Futurecraft.Footprint prototype, with a carbon footprint of 2.94 kilograms per pair, 63% lower than the 7.86 kilograms of the comparable Adizero RC3. Not only do they selflessly share materials, supply chains and innovations, but they also create synergies, such as Adidas' Lightstrike midsole technology, which combines with Allbird's sugarcane fiber Sweetfoam raw material to create a new low-carbon natural material.
Product Features: Lightweight, Eco-Friendly, High Performance
In addition, the new fabric is soft, lightweight, high performance and made from 70% recycled polyester with 30% natural wood paddle Tencel, making it a win-win-win situation. The project took less than 12 months to complete, with the first 100 pairs prioritized for distribution to Adidas Creators Club members in May, and the next batch of 10,000 pairs to be released in the fall/winter.
